B1+ BLENDED LEARNING - Classroom and online lesssons
B1+ Blended Learning - Combined classroom and online lessons.
This Blended Learning English language course is for you if you want the advantage of face-to-face classroom-based classes combined with the flexibility of eLearning. The course includes interactive self-study, group work, pair work, individual feedback and classroom tasks. Over the course of eight weeks, you will combine classes at Studieskolen with online classes and self-study from the comfort of your own home or office.
This is an intermediate level course which aims to strengthen your skills in handling everyday conversation and situations. The course will include practice in grammar, listening, writing, vocabulary and, of course, speaking. The topics for this course are culture, crime, travel and survival.
Speaking in class will allow you to use and become comfortable with the new structures you have learnt. You will learn to communicate more precisely by studying and completing grammar exercises. After the course, you will have a greater understanding of the present, past and conditional tenses. You will also learn how to use adjectives when making comparisons. You will be expected to submit two written assignments, for example, a review of a travel destination, an opinion essay or an email. You will receive feedback on your writing. Your teacher will explain the typical mistakes made by non-native speakers when writing English.
Preparation time: 4 hours per week including the written and grammar assignments.
You do not need to buy a book for the course. All the material will be uploaded to the class digital learning platform and is included in the price.
How do the online lessons and self-study element work?
During the week, you will work alone on your computer or mobile device and complete listening, reading, writing and grammar exercises. You will receive automatic feedback for these tasks. There will be online classes with your teacher on certain weeks. These classes are similar to face-to-face classes in that you can work in groups, take part in classroom discussions, raise your hand and share your work with everyone. We will discuss questions relating to the previous weeks' work and introduce you to new topics. You participate in the online classes via the video conferencing programme, Zoom. We will send you a secure password for the classes once you have registered on the course. All you need is a computer with a webcam and a good internet connection.
How do the face-to-face classes work?
Week one's introductory class will take place at Studieskolen. Thereafter, every second week , you will attend classes at Studieskolen. You will have the opportunity to meet your fellow classmates in person. You will often work in groups and make presentations related to group homework that was previously assigned. The classes are based on various tasks, which you will do together.
