Speak English fluently with online lessons
This online course is for you if you have already taken the B2.1 course or you are a new student who wants to become more confident in your use of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. We discuss topics in more depth than at the previous levels. For example, instead of just talking about technology, we might discuss the problems associated with internet bullying, excessive use of gadgets or fear of missing out!

The topics will be selected according to what you and the other students would like to talk about, but we usually discuss some of the following subjects: Social media, current affairs, talent, American and British culture and creativity.

As well as learning many new words on the course, there will also be a focus on pronunciation such as syllables and word stress and you will learn some new techniques for pronouncing the language correctly.

This is not a grammar course, but grammatical mistakes can prevent you from holding a fluent and accurate conversation. So your teacher will spend some time explaining any grammar mistakes that you and your fellow students make.

Some lessons will be based on role-plays, where you will work together in groups to solve a particular task. These fun lessons have been developed by the teachers to get you to talk together as much as possible.

Teaching material
You do not need to buy a book for this course. Your teacher will select suitable material, which is included in the price.

How do the online lessons take place?
You take part in the class via the video conferencing programme, Zoom. Your teacher will upload a secure link to the class meeting room on our digital platform, Moodle. You and your fellow students will meet online once a week. You will work with authentic texts, video and audio clips as well as interactive group tasks. Online classes are similar to face-to-face classes in that you can work in groups, take part in classroom discussions, raise your hand and share your work with everyone.

Overview of the course layout and material
You will receive access to our online digital platform, Moodle. Moodle provides a comprehensive overview of the entire course. You will also be able to contact your classmates and discuss the activities taking place in your class.

On Moodle you can:

  • see the plan for the course, the individual teaching sessions and homework

  • see teaching materials including extra materials such as videos

  • communicate with your teacher and your fellow students

  • follow up and catch up on lessons missed if you are absent during the course

Preparation time: approx. 1-2 hours

There is a maximum of 14 students in this class.

Mavis Graham

Mavis Graham har en CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). Hun har jamaicanske rødder, men er født og opvokset i England og flyttede til Danmark i 2003. Mavis har en sprudlende personlighed og mener, at ”al undervisning skal være både sjov og lærerig!”

Mavis anbefaler:
Places to visit in England: The Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall – for a beautiful coastline, countryside, villages and many other attractions.
Food: Go to a tea room in a village, in any tourist area, and have scones with clotted cream and jam. Yummy! Fish and chips (with salt and vinegar), from a good fish 'n’ chips shop, is a 'must try' and can be bought almost anywhere in England. Enjoy!

Learning Tips:
Read English books that have CDs so that you can listen while you read for correct pronunciation.
Watch lots of English films and only use subtitles in English, if needed
Try to use new words and phrases that you learn, as much as possible.  Remember - ‘use it or lose it'!
