Many spouses encounter difficulty daily with the Danish language and come across Danish culture that they simply don’t know how to respond to! What do you need to know about how Danes tick, how they interact and their humour? And how do you learn to master this strange little language?
The Danish Language & Culture course gives you an insight into it all. It’s a special introductory course for spouses, run by Spouse Connect. It covers 6 weeks, twice a week, and consists of 3 lessons x 45 minutes, per session.
At the end of the 6-week course, you will have achieved language skills equivalent to level A1 or module 1 in Danish Education 3. A level test will be given during the last week of the course.
The teaching is aimed at spouses with a certain level of education, usually upper secondary or further. The goal is that you will able to apply for jobs in Danish and be linguistically prepared for the Danish labour market.
Danish culture is an integral part of teaching a language. This means that we cover Danish traditions and culture that you may encounter in your everyday life in schools, day-care centres, workplaces and associations. We help you de-code what is actually being said and to ‘read between the lines’. What makes Danes laugh and their sense of humour? What is Danish irony and other cultural differences?
Overall, the Danish Language & Culture course is a short introduction to the country you are currently living in.
