Information about Danish Education in the City of Copenhagen

In 2018, several things have happened that influence Danish Education at Studieskolen. Two things are particularly important:

1. Danish lessons are no longer free of charge in Denmark

From July 1, Danish Education will no longer be free. Students have to contribute to the expenses for teachers, premises, books, administration, etc.
A module of Danish Education will cost DKK 2,000 from July 1.This has been approved by the Danish parliament on the 4th of June 2018.

In addition, students have to pay a deposit of DKK 1,250, and the voucher system remains in place.
The new payment rules apply throughout Denmark to all schools offering Danish Education under contract with a municipality.

2. Danish lessons in Copenhagen
Danish Education in Copenhagen was put out to tender. Studieskolen did not win the bid, so from August 1 we can no longer provide Danish Education under contract with the City of Copenhagen. However, you can still learn Danish at Studieskolen – please see below.

Danish at Studieskolen

  • Until August 1, we will provide Danish Education as usual.
  • From August 1, when the new payment rules apply throughout the country, Studieskolen will still provide Danish courses. The price of Danish courses at Studieskolen will be roughly the same as in all other schools.
  • A module at Studieskolen will cost about DKK 2,000.
  • Please note that after August 1, you will not have to pay a deposit at Studieskolen, and you will no longer be subject to the voucher system.
