Christina Balslev

We have asked our teachers if they can recommend a place, an activity, or something else you can do in or outside Copenhagen. Here is what Christina suggests.

Do you have a favourite place in or around Copenhagen?
“One of my favourite spots near Copenhagen is Dragør. Dragør has a wonderfully idyllic atmosphere, and it’s easy to slip into a holiday mood as you wander through the old town with its ‘Skagen-like’ houses or take a walk along the beach, gazing out towards Sweden and the many wind turbines in the Øresund Strait. Perhaps it’s because I grew up on Amager that I’ve got it into my head Astrid Lindgren’s famous character, Pippi’s father, is sailing somewhere out in the distance - after all, he’s a sailor.
If you stroll along Sydstranden in Dragør during the summer months, especially on a Saturday, you should definitely pop into the little restaurant "Sylten" for a lovely brunch. You can sit with your feet in the sand and enjoy the endless view over the sea.”

Can you recommend an especially good restaurant in Copenhagen?
“My favourite restaurant in Copenhagen is "Restaurant Neni", right next to Rundetårn. I’ve never had better food anywhere else, and the setting is truly something special - honestly, it’s world-class.”

What if someone would like to spend time in nature, for example in the woods?
“If you fancy a woodland experience, then my favourite forest is definitely "Rude Skov". Its mountain bike trail is especially good because the countryside you pass through is so varied and hilly. There are beautiful lakes, high viewpoints, and historical cultural monuments.”
