Indfødsretsprøven consists of 45 written questions about Danish society, Danish culture and Danish history. 35 of the questions are based on the study material.
There are also 5 current questions that are based on coverage in Danish news media of Danish social conditions, politics and cultural events. The current questions cover events that have been of special interest to Danish news media at some point during the six months leading up to the test.
Finally, there are 5 unprepared questions about Danish values. These questions are made to test whether people applying for Danish citizenship have taken Danish values to heart.
In order to pass the test, you must have 36 correct answers, and 4 of the correct answers must be from the unprepared questions.

The next time Indfødsretsprøven will be held is on 31 May 2023 at 13:00-13:45. Deadline for sign up is 26 April.

IMPORTANT! You must show photo ID
You must show valid photo ID at the test. Click here to see the rules for photo ID.If you don't have a valid photo ID, you must make an application to use another kind of ID. You have to file the application at least 4 weeks before the test. Send the application to SIRI (Styrelsen for International Rekruttering og Integration) by writing an email to: indfoedsretsproeven@siri.dk.
When you receive a reply on your application, you must forward the reply to Studieskolen at info@studieskolen.dk.
Dispensation to take the test under special conditions
If you have dyslexia, a mental or physical disability or other comparable difficulties, then you can apply for dispensation to take the test under special conditions.
You must register for the test before you can apply for dispensation.
You can apply for dispensation by sending an email to info@studieskolen.dk. Studieskolen will then contact you regarding documentation (a dyslexia test or a doctor's note). You must apply as soon as possible and no later than 5 April.
Test fee
The test costs 847 DKK.
Refund policy
- If you cancel your registration before registration deadline: we will refund 100 % of the exam fee. We will deduct an administrative fee DKK 100.
- If you cancel your registration after registration deadline and no later than two weeks before the written test: we will refund 50 % of the exam fee.
- If you cancel your registration later than two weeks before the written test: We are not able to refund the exam fee.
Later test in 2023
Indfødsretsprøven will be held on 29 November 2023. Deadline for signing up 25 October.
