Cosy Film Night with a Danish Movie
Improve your Danish while watching an award-winning, critically acclaimed film.

This evening in the film club, we’ll be watching Mifune’s Last Song from 1999. The film will be shown in Danish with English subtitles. Hearing the Danish words while reading the English translation makes it easier to understand the language and learn new expressions.

After the film, we’ll talk in Danish about what we’ve seen. We’ll discuss the film’s genre and themes and briefly touch upon the ideas behind the Danish film movement Dogme 95, which the film was a part of.

You’ll also have the chance to put your new knowledge into perspective as we look at the contrast between rural and urban life in the film and how that compares to Denmark today.

Studieskolen’s Film Club The film club is a cosy and informal event for anyone who wants to experience Danish culture through film. You’ll meet other students, gain new perspectives, and find inspiration to use Danish in a new way.

Feel free to bring your favourite snacks – we’re going to have a hyggelig time together!

It takes place:
Wednesday 4 March 2026 from 16:30 to 19:00
Studieskolen, Borgergade 12

Who can join? All students enrolled in Danish courses at Studieskolen are welcome. It’s free, but you need to register in advance.

Katinka Louise Pohl

Katinka recommends:
Do you have a favourite place in Copenhagen?
”The best cinema in town is in the heart of Østerbro. Park Bio is one of the oldest cinemas in Copenhagen, and it only has one screen. You can be certain to have a good experience in its atmospheric foyer where you can look at palms as well as fish in the aquarium while you wait for your popcorn.”

Can you recommend a good Danish TV show?
”I love Danish films and TV shows from the 90’s. I particularly recommend the TV series Taxa from 1997. This soap-like drama from DR (Denmark’s national broadcaster) is about a family-run taxi company in Copenhagen, and it gives you a lively idea of how the city looked in the 90’s. Aside from that, it is full of excitement, intrigue and drama and you can see it for free via DR’s digital archive Bonanza.”
