Bemærk venligst, at denne begivenhed er for vores danskkursister.

Creative Easter fun with crafting and egg blowingDanes have many creative traditions for Easter. In the lead-up to Easter, we make beautiful “gækkebreve” (decorative paper-cut letters) and write our names with a dot for each letter in our name – if your recipient can't guess who sent the “gækkebrev”, they owe you an Easter egg!

For many Danes one of the other common traditions is the Easter Lunch with many small dishes. We plant cress early on, which adds a fresh, green touch to the lunch.

Another popular tradition is egg blowing, where we carefully make small holes in each end of an egg and blow out the contents. The empty shells are then painted and used as decorations, like hanging ornaments.

Easter crafting (påskeklip) is a cosy, creative activity where we cut out different shapes and symbols, such as daffodils, bunnies and chicks.

Join us for Easter crafting, "gækkebreve" and egg blowingCome and enjoy some Easter fun! We will be making “gækkebreve”, blowing eggs and crafting creative Easter decorations together. Studieskolen will provide materials, but if you have your own favourite markers or paper, feel free to bring them along. Together, we will inspire each other to create unique designs over coffee and snacks.

The session will be in a mix of Danish and English, so everyone can participate. And who knows, you might even expand your network while you are here!

The event is free, but please register in advance so we know how many materials to purchase.

It takes place:
Wednesday 25 March 2026 from 13:00 to 15:00
Studieskolen, Borgergade 12.
We will send you a text message a few days before the event with the exact room number.
Please note that this event is for our Danish language students.

Laura Lyng

Laura recommends:
Do you have a favourite spot in Copenhagen?
"I live in Nordvest, and I love all the opportunities that the neighbourhood offers! There are affordable second-hand shops (with good finds if you're patient), delicious and exciting ingredients in the markets, comedy and live music at Lygten Station, and green retreats – for example, the area around Utterslev Mose, where I often go for walks and greet the many geese and swans."

Do you have any good ideas for other activities in Copenhagen?
"I really enjoy visiting art museums, but I'm also fascinated by the art in the urban landscape: on walls, doors, and larger public spaces. Two of the artists I particularly like are HuskMitNavn and Storm P., who both use a playful and almost childlike expression to comment on society and put everyday life into perspective. I know there are at least a few of their works on walls around the city – maybe even more!"

Do you have any favourite places in Copenhagen that are suitable if you have children?

"I spend a lot of my free time with my four-year-old son, Leo, and we've practically become experts at finding great, free places in Copenhagen where both children and adults can have fun together.

On a grey day, we recommend a visit to one of the city's many libraries, such as Hovedbiblioteket (the Main Library) in Krystalgade, which has a huge children's area where kids can not only find great books but also play and run around - while the adults enjoy a coffee from the library café.

On sunny days, you could visit Tårnlegepladsen (the Tower Playground) in Fælledparken, which has slides and water play for everyone. Or you could take the train to Klampenborg, where Dyrehaven offers exciting experiences all year round. Some of our favourites include playing animal bingo (we bring our own "bingo cards" with pictures of various animals), flying a kite on a windy day, and sledging if we’re lucky enough to get some snow.

One last favourite spot is Bastard Brætspilcafé (a board game café), where you can find almost every board game you can imagine while enjoying a big hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows!"
