Dansk - Basisniveau 1 og 2 - crash course (A2)

Learn Danish super fast!

With 12 lessons a week, you can complete the course in half the usual time. We meet three times a week, which means you will learn Danish very quickly. You will get into a routine where you work with Danish every day, and you will not have time to forget new words and expressions between lessons. So if you have the time to put some extra effort into learning Danish, this is the course for you.

On the course Danish – Basic Levels 1 and 2, you will become more confident and fluent when speaking Danish with others. You will practise conversations about topics such as:

• What you did before you came to Denmark
• What you are doing in Denmark and how long you are planning to stay
• Work, education and job opportunities

You will learn to talk about a range of topics, including:

• Music
• Books
• Films and TV series
• What you do in your spare time, for example going to a concert
• Summer holiday plans and travel

You will expand your vocabulary and grammar so you can express yourself in more detail when talking about everyday topics with family or friends.

We also talk about places, and you will learn how to explain where something is in relation to something else.

You will learn how to retell the plot of a book or film and talk about a holiday you have been on.

We talk about the body and moods, so you can explain in detail how you and other people are feeling and why you might be stressed or in a good mood. We also talk a little about illnesses, and you will build up useful vocabulary for situations such as explaining why you cannot come to work. You will also learn how to describe people in more detail.

We will now go into a little more detail with grammar. For example, you will learn more about kunne, skulle and ville.

Of course, we also work with listening and video exercises to help you understand spoken Danish better.

Pronunciation is very important, so we work on it in every lesson.

Teaching materials developed at Studieskolen

The course material Danish 2 Go is a textbook system developed by teachers at Studieskolen especially for Studieskolen students. We use Danish 2 Go 2, which follows directly on from Danish 2 Go 1.

Danish 2 Go 2 consists of two books, a coursebook and an activity book, which you use in class, as well as an extensive learning site with audio, video, exercises and resources on grammar and vocabulary.

We work with chapters 1-6.

• A video featuring four recurring characters in typical everyday situations
• An introduction to new vocabulary through short texts and listening exercises
• An introduction to pronunciation and pronunciation exercises
• Speaking exercises and activities, including conversation practice
• A range of vocabulary and grammar exercises
• Writing exercises

The teaching materials are included in the course fee. The teacher will hand out the books in class, and you will also automatically get access to our online learning platform, Moodle.

How does the course work?

The course uses blended learning. In class, we focus on spoken Danish and conversation practice, work on pronunciation and do some grammar.

You will also need to spend a significant amount of time studying at home on your computer, working with listening comprehension, reading and writing exercises.

Classes are taught primarily in Danish, with English used for support when needed.

The course moves at a fast pace, and the level of instruction is the same as in Danish Education 3.

Practical information

Danish – Basic Levels 1 and 2 corresponds to level A2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The course is for you if you already know some Danish, for example if you have completed all of module 1 of Danish Education 3 or Studieskolen's Danish for Beginners 1 and 2.

There are 12 lessons of 45 minutes in the classroom each week.

We expect you to spend 8 hours a week on independent study.

There are 10-18 students in the class.

Our Danish courses are for you if you:

• Have completed at least 12 years of schooling
• Can speak English at a minimum of B1 level
• Have a basic understanding of grammar
