Dansk - Lavere mellemniveau 1 - online (A2+)

Speak, read and write Danish!

This course is for you if you already have a good knowledge of Danish and can manage most everyday situations as long as the language is fairly simple.

The course takes place entirely online. This is ideal if you find it difficult to attend classes at Studieskolen or simply prefer learning languages online. Perhaps you have a busy schedule, travel frequently, live outside Copenhagen or want to make efficient use of your time while learning Danish.

An online course requires self-discipline, so to get the most out of the course, it is important that you also work independently on your Danish outside the two weekly sessions. You need to prepare for class and do your homework. At the same time, we know that you may have a busy schedule, so there is not much homework between the two weekday sessions.

Improve your Danish

On this course, you will have the opportunity to practise and improve your Danish by speaking, listening, reading and writing with others. We work with different types of texts, so you gradually learn to understand and use more nuanced and varied Danish, both spoken and written. Many of the texts are about real people in Denmark.

Expand your vocabulary

You will expand your vocabulary so that by the end of the course, you feel more confident speaking Danish outside the classroom – even when talking about unfamiliar topics.

Some of the topics we cover:

• Learning something new, such as doing a handstand, dancing salsa or speaking Danish. You will learn, for example, how to explain the way you prefer to learn new things.
• Personal qualities and personality. You will learn how to describe your own personality and qualities as well as those of other people.
• Friendships and family. You will learn how to talk about your family and friends and ask your classmates questions about theirs.
• The good life, health and exercise, and the many small and big things that make life enjoyable. You will learn how to explain what a good life means to you.

Vocabulary and grammar

You will learn to use more precise vocabulary so you can talk about the different topics in Danish.

We review and practise verbs in all their forms, both regular and irregular.

We also work with modal verbs, adjectives, word order and much more.

Teaching materials developed at Studieskolen

We use the course material Danish 2 Go 3, Studieskolen's own textbook system. It was developed by teachers at Studieskolen specifically for Studieskolen students.

Danish 2 Go 3 consists of a book, Classroom Activities, and a website with audio, reading texts and a wide range of online exercises where you can work with grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading.

You can find the book as an e-book on Moodle, and you will also get access to the material's website.

We work with chapters 1-3.

How does the course work?

You will work on your computer with listening comprehension, reading and writing exercises.

Twice a week, there is a joint online session where we work with spoken Danish, conversation practice, grammar and pronunciation.

Classes are taught entirely in Danish.

The course moves at a fast pace, and the level of instruction is the same as in Danish Education 3.

Technology that works for you

The course takes place online via Zoom. You will need access to a computer with a reliable internet connection, microphone and webcam. It is also an advantage if you are comfortable using digital tools and learning online.

You take part in lessons in Zoom's virtual classroom, where you can talk to your teacher, raise your hand and work in smaller groups with the other students.

Keep track of your course and materials

You will also get access to Moodle, our online learning platform, where you can find everything you need for the course in one place. You can also stay in touch with the other students and talk about what is happening in class. On Moodle, you can:

• See the plan for the entire course, individual lessons and homework
• Access teaching materials
• Communicate with your teacher and classmates
• Keep up and catch up on anything you have missed if you are absent during the course

Practical information

Danish – Lower Intermediate Level 1 corresponds to the first of two parts of level A2+ in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The course is for you if you already know some Danish, for example if you have completed Danish for Beginners 1 and 2 and Danish – Basic Levels 1 and 2 at Studieskolen, or modules 1 and 2 of Danish Education 3.

There are 5 lessons of 45 minutes each week.

We expect you to spend 4-6 hours a week on independent study.

There are 10-18 students in the class.

Our Danish courses are for you if you:

• Have completed at least 12 years of schooling
• Can speak English at a minimum of B1 level
• Have a basic understanding of grammar
