Learn to speak Danish fluently and naturally

This course is for you if you already have a good basic understanding of Danish and want to improve even further. You will have the opportunity to explore the language in more depth and discuss a wide range of topics in Danish as fluently as possible.

As always on Studieskolen's courses, the most important thing is that you get plenty of practice using Danish, mainly through speaking, although we also work with written exercises. The teacher creates a friendly and supportive atmosphere in class, so you feel comfortable expressing yourself and speaking lots of Danish with the other students. You will become more relaxed when speaking Danish, expand your vocabulary and gain a deeper understanding of Danish culture.

Some of the topics we cover:

• Traditions, special occasions and celebrations. In class, we talk about how occasions such as weddings, birthdays and graduation parties are celebrated in Denmark, and you will learn how to talk about traditions you know from other places.
• Homes. You will learn how to describe your own home and other people's homes. How are they furnished? Are they in the city or the countryside? We also read property listings.
• Dreams and ambitions. Perhaps you dream of getting a new job? What would the perfect job be for you? We practise writing a good job application. If you have other dreams for your life, you will learn how to talk about those too. We also discuss other topics, such as volunteering.

Expand your vocabulary

You will develop a more precise vocabulary so you can speak Danish when you want to:

• Talk about traditions and special occasions
• Talk about a special occasion you have celebrated
• Invite someone to a party, a christening, Sankt Hans Eve or a milestone birthday, for example
• Talk about and describe where and how you live
• Tell a story or talk about a special experience you have had
• Explain why you prefer one thing over another
• Talk about your own and other people's experience and skills
• Explain in simple terms whether you agree or disagree with something – and why

We also work on some grammar. Among other things, we review verbs in the present, past and present perfect tenses, as well as possessive pronouns.

Teaching materials developed at Studieskolen

We use the course material Danish 2 Go 3, Studieskolen's own textbook system. It was developed by teachers at Studieskolen specifically for Studieskolen students.

Danish 2 Go 3 consists of a book, Classroom Activities, and a website with audio, reading texts and a wide range of online exercises where you can work with grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading.

You will receive the book in class and get access to the material's website. The book is also available as an e-book on Moodle.

We work with chapters 4-6.

How does the course work?

The course uses blended learning. In class, we focus on spoken Danish and conversation practice, as well as some grammar.

Pronunciation is important, so we practise it in every lesson.

You will also need to study at home on your computer, working with listening comprehension, reading and writing exercises.

Classes are taught entirely in Danish.

The course moves at a fast pace, and the level of instruction is the same as in Danish Education 3.

You will get access to Moodle, our online learning platform, where you can find everything you need for the course in one place. You can also stay in touch with the other students and talk about what is happening in class. On Moodle, you can:

• See the plan for the entire course, individual lessons and homework
• Access teaching materials
• Communicate with your teacher and classmates
• Keep up and catch up on anything you have missed if you are absent during the course

Practical information

Danish – Lower Intermediate Level 2 corresponds to the second of two parts of level A2+ in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The course is for you if you already know some Danish, for example if you have completed Danish for Beginners 1 and 2, Basic Levels 1 and 2 and Lower Intermediate Level 1 at Studieskolen, or modules 1 and 2 and part of module 3 of Danish Education 3.

There are 5 lessons of 45 minutes in the classroom each week.

We expect you to spend 4-6 hours a week on independent study.

There are 10-18 students in the class.

Our Danish courses are for you if you:

• Have completed at least 12 years of schooling
• Can speak English at a minimum of B1 level
• Have a basic understanding of grammar
