The perfect push to live and work in Denmark

Registration, course start and collaboration

  • There are three Danish courses: DU1, DU2, and DU3. Most international students are typically placed in DU2 or DU3 depending on their academic and language profile. You can read much more about the differences here.

Regardless of whether they are placed in DU2 or DU3, the Danish course consists of 6 modules. Each module is completed with a test, and the entire Danish course concludes with the official Danish Language Test.

Studieskolen offers all three Danish courses as well as the final tests.

  • If the students can answer yes to the questions below, they most likely qualify for Danish language education paid for by the municipality.

    • Have they arrived in Denmark less than 5 years ago?
    • Were they over 18 years old when they arrived in Denmark?
    • Do they have a Danish CPR number?
    • Do they have an address in Denmark?

  • They have the right to complete one Danish Language Course (either DU1, DU2, or DU3).

They must complete the course within a period of 5 years. The period starts automatically when the student receives a letter from the municipality offering them a Danish Language Course.

They have the right to receive instruction until they are ready for module testing.

  • Before the student can start learning Danish, their municipality may require a deposit of DKK 2,000 to be paid.

The deposit is refunded once the student has passed their module test within the specified time frame. (The deposit belongs to the student's municipality until then.) The deposit cannot be refunded or transferred to another language center until a module is completed. The rules are determined by the Danish Language Education for Adult Foreigners Act.
