When you feel confident using Danish in a healthcare context, everyday work becomes easier - whether you are speaking with patients or colleagues. This course helps you speak and write with confidence, so you can thrive and make a difference in the Danish healthcare system.

Healthcare Danish as Danish Education is a specially designed course for those with a healthcare qualification from their home country - for example doctors, dentists, nurses, physiotherapists or biomedical laboratory scientists.

The course is for students enrolled in Danish Education Programme 3 (Danskuddannelse 3) who have completed Module 2.

The course is a combination of the standard Danish Education programme and Healthcare Danish. You will learn everything normally taught in module 3 of the Danish Education programme, while at the same time focusing on the Danish language - both spoken and written - in specific work situations within the healthcare sector. We emphasise that you should be able to put what you learn into practice quickly.

What will you learn?
The course combines Danish language instruction with case studies, real-life scenarios and dialogues from the healthcare sector. You will learn to:

• Introduce yourself and your department
• Welcome new patients
• Explain tests and procedures, such as blood tests, endoscopies or ECGs
• Take part in morning rounds and write medical notes
• Talk to patients about diet and nutrition
• Respond empathetically to questions from relatives
• Give instructions on personal care or medication
• Use relevant professional vocabulary such as referral, side effects, admission, follow-up, pain management
• Engage in professional discussions with colleagues
• Chat informally with your colleagues

Authentic and relevant materials
We use authentic materials, short videos, dialogue texts, listening exercises, conversation cards and role plays. You will also “meet” fictional colleagues with international backgrounds who navigate the Danish healthcare system, balancing professionalism and language learning.
