Become a volunteer - and make a difference in Copenhagen

Would you like to practise your Danish, meet new people and bring joy to older people in your local area?

As a volunteer at the Verdishave care home, you become part of a community where, together with other students from Studieskolen, you can make a difference - while also gaining something valuable yourself.

What is your role?

You will join a group of volunteers who take turns visiting Verdishave care home and doing different activities with the residents. This takes place every Friday from 31 October to 19 December, 13:00-14:30. You decide how often you take part, and you will receive a certificate as documentation of your voluntary contribution.

What activities will you do with the residents?

The activities are adapted to the residents’ wishes and interests. For example, you might:

  • Go for walks or bike rides with the residents
  • Be creative, sing or play music
  • Join a conversation café with coffee and a friendly chat
  • Listen to and share life stories

Why volunteer?

There are many benefits to being a volunteer!

  • You make a difference for older people who may be missing social contact
  • You become part of a local network
  • You gain experience and something for your CV
  • You learn Danish in practice and get to meet new people
  • You become an active citizen in Copenhagen
