Can you answer yes to questions below? Then you are most likely eligible for Danish Education paid for by your municipality.
- Did you arrive in Denmark less than 5 years ago?
- Were you 18 years or older when you arrived in Denmark?
- Do you have a Danish CPR number?
- Do you have an official address in Denmark?
What are you entitled to?
- You are entitled to complete one Danish Education programme (either DU1, DU2 or DU3)
- You must complete the programme within a five-year period. The period automatically starts when you receive the letter from your municipality offering you Danish classes.
- You are entitled to attend classes until you are ready for the module test. Each Danish Education programme consists of 6 modules. Each education programme ends with a Danish exam (Prøve i Dansk).
Are you eligible for free Danish Education?

You may be entitled to Danish Education as a Danish citizen if you did not live in Denmark as a child and came to Denmark after you turned 18.

If you are an EU citizen and live abroad but work in Denmark, you may be entitled to Danish Education paid for by the municipality in which you work.

If you have what is called an administrative CPR number, you unfortunately are not entitled to Danish Education paid for by your municipality.
