Andreas Lysholt Mathiasen

We have asked our teachers to recommend a place, some Danish music or a piece of Danish music. It could also be a Danish writer or artist. This is what Andreas recommends.

Do you have a favourite place in Copenhagen?
”Denmark’s close North Atlantic relations have left their mark around Copenhagen. If you are interested in these, like I am, then a good place to start is the cultural hub Nordatlantens Brygge. This is a place where you can experience modern art and live music from the two northernmost members of the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, as well as Iceland. Exciting things are happening up north!
Perhaps try to listen to the Greenlandic-Danish band Nanook who often do concerts in Denmark and have also performed at the Roskilde Festival. It’s modern inuit rock with lyrics centering around themes such as Greenland’s nature and climate change in the Arctic – of course sung in Greenlandic.”
