Do you have a favourite place in Copenhagen?
”The thing that makes Copenhagen unique to me is the fact that you are never far away from the water – whether it is the Lakes, the harbour or the beaches at Amager. I’m particularly fond of biking by the water during ‘magic hour’, and my absolute favourite place is the small outdoor café by Sluseholmen in Sydhavnen.”
Who is your favourite Danish writer?
”I mostly read international fiction, so I would like to recommend a couple of Danish cookbook writers instead, namely Camilla Plum and Claus Meyer. They both focus on using seasonal Danish produce and have clear opinions about what we put into our mouths and bodies (without being holier-than-thou). You don’t need to cook the food; the enjoyment is in imagining just how delicious it must taste!
As cookbooks are a genre that doesn’t sell much anymore, you can often buy their books for a song in second-hand shops. Perhaps look for the ones named ’Umoderne mad’ or ’Meyers kager’.”
