Danish for beginners

You will very quickly learn to handle very simple situations in Danish like shopping and how to greet people.
You will first learn the absolute basics, such as:

  • Telling a little bit about yourself

  • Asking about others

  • Asking how someone is doing

  • Asking someone their name, where they live, and where they are from

  • Asking someone which languages they speak

You will also learn numbers, time expressions, and the names of weekdays and months.

It is critical that you acquire good Danish pronunciation, which is why we focus on it from the very beginning. We will practise how to pronounce the different sounds unique to Danish, and how the melody of a Danish sentence should sound.

Teaching materials developed at Studieskolen

The teaching material Danish to Go is a learning system which is developed by teachers at Studieskolen specifically for Studieskolen's students.
The material consists of two books - a textbook and an exercise book - which you will use in class, as well as a comprehensive online learning site with sound, video, practice exercises and online resources with grammar and vocabulary.
We will be working with the first couple of chapters.
The teaching materials are included in the course price.

The teacher will hand out the books in class, and you will automatically receive access to our online learning platform Moodle.

Classes take place at Studieskolen, Borgergade 12, 1st floor, KBH K.

Monday August 18 - Friday August 22.
Mornings 9-12 am.
Except Wednesday August 20 where classes end at 1.30pm since you´ll here be invited to join a canal cruise with your teacher and classmates.

Tanja Ettin

Tanja recommends:
Do you have any favourite places in Copenhagen that are suitable if you have children?

"I spend a lot of my free time with my four-year-old son, Leo, and we've practically become experts at finding great, free places in Copenhagen where both children and adults can have fun together.

On a grey day, we recommend a visit to one of the city's many libraries, such as Hovedbiblioteket (the Main Library) in Krystalgade, which has a huge children's area where kids can not only find great books but also play and run around - while the adults enjoy a coffee from the library café.

On sunny days, you could visit Tårnlegepladsen (the Tower Playground) in Fælledparken, which has slides and water play for everyone. Or you could take the train to Klampenborg, where Dyrehaven offers exciting experiences all year round. Some of our favourites include playing animal bingo (we bring our own "bingo cards" with pictures of various animals), flying a kite on a windy day, and sledging if we’re lucky enough to get some snow.

One last favourite spot is Bastard Brætspilcafé (a board game café), where you can find almost every board game you can imagine while enjoying a big hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows!"
