Pernille Lemvig-Fog

We have asked our teachers to recommend a place, some Danish music or a Danish artist. This is what Pernille recommends.

Do you have a favourite place in Copenhagen?
“I am very fond of Copenhagen as a green city and for that reason I’d like to recommend Den Grønne Sti (The Green Path). It is a biking route that goes right through the city – from Tagensvej and Mjølnerparken to Roskildevej and Domus Vista. This is advanced sightseeing. Here are a couple of picks:
Superkilen with Den Røde Plads (’Red Square’) between Nørrebrogade and Mimersgade is a cultural playground for children and adults alike. The bridge crossing Ågade is a challenge when you’re going uphill and a delightful rush when you’re going downhill. From Ågade toward Falkoner Allé and the Frederiksberg Centre, you can pretend that you are riding in a wood – and in the middle of it all, you will see a small square for some outdoors exercise. The last part of the route from Peter Bangs Vej toward Roskildevej runs between Solbjerg Cemetery and a bunch of allotments – and suddenly, you’re in the middle of a completely ordinary city area with high-rise buildings and cars.”

Do you have a favourite place outside of Copenhagen?
“Grab your bike, put in on a train, then on a ferry. Visit one of Denmark’s many islands. Here are some of my favourites: Samsø, Læsø, Ærø and Langeland. Each island has its own unique way of being an island. Why go south in the summer when you have so many options here in Denmark? It is true that the weather is very changeable and that you cannot be sure of sunshine every day. But variety is good, and on an island, you learn to take life as it comes. Easy.”
