Keep on learning Italian!Do you know a little bit of Italian, perhaps from a previous course or trip to Italy, and do you want to refresh your memory and learn more? And do you prefer a course that is taught in English? Then this is the course for you! You can join this course if you can introduce yourself in easy Italian and talk simply about yourself.
Cosa fai nel tempo libero? You will refresh the essentials so that you can talk to Italians in typical situations that you encounter in Italy, for example when you are visiting as a tourist.
In this course you learn to:
- Talk about your free time – are you into sports or do you prefer to relax on the sofa?
- Say if you agree with somebody
- Talk about what you like or dislike – and explain why
- Describe your typical day: what do you usually do in the morning or evening?
- Congratulate somebody on their birthday or on other special days
In class, we practise different situations you might experience on your travels in Italy, so that you know what to say when, for example, you reserve a room, ask for information or check in at an Italian hotel. You learn more words, expressions and sentences that you can use in different situations when you talk to Italians. For example, you learn the names for the days of the week and months, and how to ask and tell the time.
We also take a virtual journey through parts of Italy, and you discover new things about beautiful places such as Siena and Alberobello – perhaps you will even get inspiration for your next holiday destination? We compare the Italian way of living with other cultures: what kind of gifts do Italians give to each other? And are you supposed to leave a tip at an Italian bar?
Not least, you keep on learning the foundations of Italian grammar. Among other things, we work with more verbs and verbal forms, prepositions and pronouns, so you can better understand Italians and say more sentences when you speak. But don't worry – our focus is to talk as much as possible and for you to learn to pronounce words correctly. You practise grammar in relevant situations and with different activities, such as conversations, role-plays and small dialogues based on a variety of things such as pictures, texts, video clips and audio files. The book that we use in the course, Nuovo espresso plus 1, offers also some games that you can access through your smartphone, so you can practise Italian in many fun ways. In this way you will learn to speak Italian as fast as possible.
