Studieprøven

Studieprøven is a prognostic test of your Danish language proficiency used to indicate if you have acquired Danish language skills at C1-level, enabling you to take part in further education amongst other things.

Studieprøven is devised by the Danish Ministry of Education. It is state-controlled and takes place twice a year.

The next time Studieprøven will be held is in November/December 2024. 
Deadline for sign up is 2 September 2024.

Time and place

The written test will be held on 11 November from 9:00 to approx. 14:00.
The written test will be held at the exact same date and time across the country.

The oral test will take place between 2 and 13 December from 9:00 to 17:00.
You will get the precise date for your oral test in the end of October and you will get the time at the end of November.
Unfortunately, you cannot choose the date and time for the oral test yourself.

Both the written and oral test are held at Studieskolen, Borgergade 12, 1300 København K.


Use of laptop for the written part of Studieprøven

In general, the written part of Studieprøven is done on paper where you write by hand. If you wish to write the part of the test called 'Skriftlig fremstilling' on a computer, it is possible to bring your own PC or Mac with Word installed. Studieskolen cannot lend you a computer.

IMPORTANT! You must show photo ID

You must show valid photo ID at both your written and oral tests. Click here to see the rules for photo ID.

If you do not have one of the valid forms of identification, permission can sometimes be granted to use an alternative form of identification. You must apply for this with the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) no later than 4 weeks before the test. The application can be submitted via Digital Post (e.g., from e-Boks, Mit.dk, Borger.dk, or the Digital Post app). Select Styrelsen for International Rekruttering og Integration as the recipient. Then select "Dankprøver" as the subcategory of the recipient.

When you receive a reply on your application, you must forward the reply to Studieskolen at info@studieskolen.dk.


Dispensation to take the test under special conditions

If you suffer from a physical or mental disability or have similar difficulties (for example, if you are dyslexic), you can apply to take the test with special aids or under special conditions. This could include a technical aid, an assistant, extended time, or similar accommodations.

You must register for the test before you can apply for dispensation.

You can apply for dispensation by sending an email to info@studieskolen.dk. Attach documentation of your disability (a dyslexia test or a medical certificate). You should send your application as soon as possible and no later than 16 September.


Test fee

Studieprøven costs 1,822 DKK.

It is possible to but only the written test or only the oral test.

The written test costs 911 DKK.
The oral test costs 911 DKK.


Refund policy

  • If you cancel your registration before registration deadline: we will refund 100 % of the exam fee. We will deduct an administrative fee DKK 100.
  • If you cancel your registration after registration deadline and no later than two weeks before the written test: we will refund 50 % of the exam fee.
  • If you cancel your registration later than two weeks before the written test: We are not able to refund the exam fee.


Are you a student at Studieskolen?

If you are a student at free Danish Education 3
If you are signed up for module 6 of Danish Education 3 at Studieskolen, then you don't need to pay for the test and you will be automatically signed up for it. If you have any questions about the test, you can ask your teacher.

Please note that you lose the right to further Danish Education when you pass an exam on the same or higher Danish education level than the one you are currently attending.

If you attend Private Danish and pay for your course yourself
If you are a student at Studieskolen on the course "Forberedelse til Studieprøven" and if you have paid for the course yourself, you have also already paid for this exam. You are registered for the test, and you do not have to register here.

Next test in 2025

The next Studieprøven will be held in May/June 2025. The written exam will be held on 12 May, and the oral exam will be held between 10 and 21 June 2025. You can register from 17 December.
